Draft Result Drafted in the 2009 Draft by the Washington Redskins in the 1st round with the #13 pick.
Orakpo is a great value pick for the Redskins. They needed to add a pass rusher and Orakpo fits the bill. I also think Orakpo fits a 4-3 defense better than a 3-4.

Strengths Tremendous burst off the ball. Natural pass rusher. A two year starter on a talented front four in Austin. Good technique against the run. Doesn't over pursue many plays. Excellent strength. Had a big game in the win vs. Oklahoma. Can play 4-3 DE or 3-4 rush LB.

Weaknesses Only 1 truly dominant season. Struggled against some of his top competition including Russell Okung of Oklahoma State. Injuries have been a big issue for Orakpo. Missed several games a year ago with a knee injury. Since most left tackles struggle to block Orakpo, he takes a lot of cut blocks and with a bad knee that could be a huge concern. Inconsistent at times. Some question his motor.
