Strengths
  • #1 QB prospect for 2010
  • Came out of a pro style offense at Notre Dame and is the most NFL ready QB in the 2010 draft
  • Pure pocket passer
  • Tremendous on short to intermediate throws
  • Accurate passer and has improved in that regard each season
  • Tough QB who has thrived despite average at best protection and played through a painful toe injury for most of 2009
  • Good not great arm strength
  • Makes good decisions - just 4 INTs in 425 attempts in 2009
  • Buys time in the pocket and has above average awareness
  • Shows good intangibles, especially with regard to confidence and competiveness
  • Most NFL ready QB in the draft.

Weaknesses
  • Lacks ideal size at 6'2" but he meets the minimum height you look for in a QB
  • Production may have been a product of the offense and the skill players around him
  • His deep balls have a tendency to come up a tad short
  • Has a low trajectory on some of his passes leading to deflections
  • Not especially mobile and is not a threat to run
  • Needs to step into his throws more consistently
