Draft Result Drafted in the 2010 Draft by the Miami Dolphins in the 3rd round with the #9 pick.
Powerful run blocker and ideal right guard in a power rushing attack. Surprisingly athletic for his size, the Dolphins need to avoid the temptation to move him outside to tackle.

Strengths
  • Good bloodlines. Brother Peria Jerry was a first round pick last year and cousin Jamarca Sanford was a starting safety at Ole Miss
  • Has starting experience at both right tackle and right guard
  • Experienced 4 year starter
  • Understands blitz pickups and rarely makes mental errors
  • Roadgrader as a run blocker - ideal fit for a power running team
  • Has the look of a big powerful right guard.  Huge arms.
  • Played well after moving to guard at the 2009 mid-season
  • Elevated his stock and established himself as one of the top guards in the draft with a strong Senior Bowl week

Weaknesses
  • Carries a lot of baby fat. Jerry is a big man, but could be thicker
  • Plays much better in a phone booth than space. Not going to be a pulling guard at the next level
  • Slow feet will force Jerry to play inside at right guard - not a right tackle
  • Heavy legged waist bender - Gets poor leverage. Must stay low as a run blocker
  • Struggled vs. speed rushers - a problem that appeared to resolve itself after moving inside to guard
