Draft Result Drafted in the 2010 Draft by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round with the #17 pick.
A terrific athlete and hard hitting safety with the upside to be a difference maker in the secondary. Stout against the run but needs to improve his coverage skills.

Strengths
  • Elite athlete - rare a combination of size, speed and strength
  • A linebacker's body with cornerback speed
  • Good range - can make plays sideline to sideline
  • Big time hitter in the secondary - old school strong safety
  • A tackling machine who excels in run support
  • Plays well with the ball in front of him
  • 4 year starter

Weaknesses
  • Overaggressive - tends to look for the big hit instead of the smart play
  • Needs to wrap up more consistently
  • Vulnerable to the play action pass
  • Strictly an in the box strong safety type
  • A liability in coverage - lacks man coverage skills and instincts
  • Does not play the ball well
  • Lack of big plays - just 5 interceptions and 0 sacks in his career
  • May need to move to OLB a la Thomas Davis
  • Great athlete but not a fit for all schemes as a safety
