Draft Result Drafted in the 2010 Draft by the Buffalo Bills in the 1st round with the #9 pick.
Spiller is a tremendous talent but one has to question this selection given the team's needs at quarterback and offensive tackle. He is the top playmaker in this year's draft and the Bills are banking on him taking pressure off of the quarterback and offensive line with his ability to make big plays on the ground and after the catch. It is hard to argue the Bills adding a player of Spiller's caliber but the bigger surprise may have been that they waited until round five to fill their most pressing offensive need (offensive tackle).

Strengths
  • Versatile back. All time ACC leader in all purpose running
  • Best play-maker in the 2010 draft
  • Dangerous open field runner - accelerates quickly and can turn on a dime
  • Good vision and when he finds a seam he bursts through the hole
  • Possesses breakaway speed, tremendous acceleration and good balance
  • Excellent receiver out of the backfield displaying good hands and route running ability
  • Big time kick returner. Has quick feet and understands how to setup blockers

Weaknesses
  • Does Spiller have the size to be a full time back? Only 1 year as the full time starter and only had more than 20 carries twice in 2009
  • May fit best in a two back system
  • Must finish runs better when running between the tackles
  • Needs to improve as a pass blocker
  • Durability
