Strengths

  • Ideal height and weight for a 3-4 DE or left end
  • Stout at the point of attack
  • Underrated athlete for his size
  • Long arms - consistently knocks down passes at the line of scrimmage
  • Had an outstanding 2008 season: 42 tackles 16.5 TFL and 10 sacks
  • Solid against the run and the pass
  • 4 year starter with 4 career interceptions and 4 career blocked kicks
  • One of the top 3-4 defensive ends in the draft

Weaknesses

  • Durability - Had a torn ACL in the 2008 Alamo Bowl.
  • Struggled early in the season as he recovered from his injury but finished strong with 4 sacks and 6 TFL in his last six games
  • Needs to play with better leverage
  • Does not possess a wide array of pass rush moves
  • Not very explosive off the ball
