Draft Result

Drafted in the 2009 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 3rd round with the #34 pick.
Coffman has excellent hands and is a good receiving tight end. He is not a good blocker and lacks the speed you expect from a receiving tight end. Like Crabtree he did not run a 40 prior to the draft.

Strengths

Extremely productive receiving tight end. Has a knack for finding open spots on the field. Above average route runner. Excellent hands. Has the size to be an excellent third down and red zone target. Good character and work ethic.

Weaknesses

Does not have the speed to stretch defenses down the seam. Little experience playing in line and is a below average blocker. Not esp. strong which further hinders his blocking. Has been plaqued by ankle injuries throughout his career. While Coffman is not a bad athlete his inability to play in line could cause him to slide in a class with several athletic tight ends.
