Draft Result

Drafted in the 2011 Draft by the Green Bay Packers in the 3rd round with the #32 pick.
Alex Green is a solid option out of the backfield. He's got a tremendous burst and goes from 0 to 60 like it's nothing. A tough, between the tackles runner with the ability to excel as a receiver as well, he is a great complement to the backs they already have in Green Bay.

Strengths

  • Possesses good combination of size and speed
  • Powerful straight line runner, impossible to bring down with an arm tackle
  • Good fit for a Mike Shananahan one cut style rushing attack
  • Great stiff arm
  • Decisive - Natural, quick hit runner
  • When given the chance, displays soft hands in the passing game (27 receptions in 2010)
  • Productive - 1,199 yards rushing and 18 TDs on just 146 carries
  • Sleeper - poor man's Steven Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, physical back

Weaknesses

  • Upright style exposes him to big hits
  • Production partially a product of a pass happy offense
  • Ball controls issues will be a concern
  • Played out of the shotgun most of his college career and will need to adjust to classic I-formation and one back sets
  • Good speed for a big back but isn't going to outrun secondarys for "home runs"
  • Not elusive in the open field
