Drafted in the 2011 Draft by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1st round with the #22 pick.
The Colts have needed help desperately on the front line, and Castonzo is viewed as one of the most consistent players at the tackle position in this draft. Widely viewed as a "safe selection", he could plug in at a number of spots for the Colts, but likely will line up on Peyton Mannings blind side.

Strengths

  • Experienced 4 year starter (2 at left tackle)
  • Typical fundamentally sound BC lineman
  • Good run blocker with the athleticism to get to the second level
  • Moves well laterally
  • Sustains and controls his blocks
  • Great footwork - nimble on his feet
  • Sets up quickly in pass protection 
  • Displays good arm extension
  • Has athleticism to play left side
  • Ideal fit for a zone blocking scheme
  • Intelligent - both on and off the field
  

Weaknesses

  • More solid than spectacular
  • Not a dominant pass blocker - needs to sustain blocks
  • Has a tendency to play flat-footed leaving him vulnerable to speed rushers
  • Needs to get stronger - does not get a lot of push in the ground game
  • Undersized - sub 300 lbs
  • Can bend knees but tends to get high at times
  • Needs to work on his hand punch
