Draft Result

Drafted in the 2011 Draft by the Detroit Lions in the 2nd round with the #12 pick.
The Lions add another talent to their young and improving offense in Titus Young. The former Boise State star gives Detroit the ability to stretch the field and come out in a number of different packages. A speed receiver with solid hands but questionable character, this could be a boom or bust-type pick for the Lions.

Strengths

  • Speedy playmaker out of the slot
  • Tremendous quickness and agility
  • Stretches the defense on a regular basis, runs lateral routes more than not
  • Very difficult to jam, shakes defender and is gone downfeild in a split second.
  • Will be a similar player to Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, one of the closest comparisons that you'll see.
  • Brings added return value, both punt and kick returns.
  • So dangerous from any part of the feild, is a touchdown threat from all 100 yards.
  • Adds an everydown screen threat.
  • Makes great adjustments to deep balls, either making the snag, being in position to, or drawing a flag everytime.

Weaknesses

  • Isn't going to out muscle anyone for the ball, struggles at points of contact.
  • Inconsistent hands
  • Questionable work ethic
  • Needs to refine his route running. Has that athletic ability to do that very well yet they still seem to be a bit raw.
  • Good not great speed (more a 4.4 guy than a 4.3 guy)
  • Needs to expand his route tree.  Didn't run high variety of routes, touchdown or checkdown type routes.
  • Undersized - Might have trouble staying healthy at a 190 lbs.
  • Wasn't asked to block much at Boise State.
