Dexter Jackson
NFL Draft Scouting Report

Wide Receiver

Appalachian State

College Position: Wide Receiver
School: Appalachian State
Grade: Senior
Height: 5-9
Weight: 185
Birthdate:
Draft Projection: Third
Overall Rank: Unranked
NFL Draft Position (Rank): Wide Receiver (8)

Draft Result

Drafted in the 2008 Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2nd round with the #27 pick.
Jackson fills a need for Tampa but the 2nd round run on wide receivers makes you wonder whether they would have been better served trading up or picking one in round 1. Jackson is small burner type who can gain yards after the catch. He is a good KR as well.

Strengths

Burst onto the national scene against Michigan last season. Turned heads at the combine and the Senior Bowl. Can run by any corner at the next level. Makes big plays out of short passes

Weaknesses

Has to take more hits over the middle. Could become more of a possession receiver. Has a tendency to take eyes off the ball
