NFL Draft Scouting Report

Offensive Tackle

West Virginia

College Position: Offensive Tackle
School: West Virginia
Grade: Senior
Height: 6-4
Weight: 295
Birthdate: 11-13-1985
Draft Projection: Fourth
Overall Rank: Unranked
NFL Draft Position (Rank): Offensive Tackle (12)

Draft Result

Drafted in the 2010 Draft by the Washington Redskins in Round 7 with the #24 pick.

Strengths

  • Athletic left tackle prospect
  • Converted from Tight End to Offensive Tackle in 2007. Has tight end-like quickness
  • Outstanding lateral movement
  • Dominant run blocker
  • Played in a offense with a quick passing game, so cut blocking is a major strength
  • Tremendous lead blocker on screen passes
  • Athletic enough to also play guard

Weaknesses

  • Still learning how to be an offensive lineman. Does not play instinctive
  • Still raw as a pass blocker - gets exposed by speed rushers but shows potential
  • Needs to improve his footwork
  • Needs to improve on finishing blocks. Not enough "Pancake Blocks" for a top flight offensive tackle prospect
  • Has the upside to play left tackle but will need time to develop
