Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:57:28)On behalf of Dan Wernery, Doug Lancy and myself thank you for joining us for NFLDraft101.com's live coverage of the 2009 NFL Draft. If you have a question or want to provide us with feedback email me at cmaier@nfldraft101.com.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:55:38)Johnson's biggest problem is he is an undersized corner who does not play physically and really struggled this past year. His good man coverage ability and return skills will earn him a chance to make a roster as an undrafted free agent.

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 16:53:34)Chris what must Bruce do or improve on

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:53:29)Here is a highlight of some of the top undrafted players: OT Gerald Cadogan, QB Graham Harrell, QB Mike Reilly, CB/S Derek Pegues, MLB Darry Beckwith, S Emanuel Cook, RB Kory Sheets, MLB Frantz Joseph, DT Chris Baker, WR Kevin Ogletree, G/T Gus Parrish, DE/OLB Philip Hunt and TE Kory Sperry

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 16:49:36)WINNERS: Cardinals, Colts, Eagles, Packers, Texans LOSERS: Broncos, Lions, Raiders, Panthers

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:49:28)I expect Bruce Johnson to have numerous free agent offers as he is one of the top undrafted corners.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:48:38)No the draft is complete and Bruce Johnson did not get drafted. However, LB Spencer Adkins was selected in the 6th round by the Falcons.

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 16:47:43)is there any chance that he gey pick

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:45:46)Stay tuned to NFL Draft 101 this evening and throughout the week as each of our expect grades all 32 drafts and we go back and fill in all the pick by pick analysis and announce our first 2010 mock draft.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:44:45)Any final questions before we wrap up (Doug's winners and losers are coming)

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:44:23)Winners: Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Seattle and Houston.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:43:29)No Bruce Johnson did not get picked.

tommie jefferson     (04-26-2009 16:43:13)did bruce johnson get picked

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:41:34)Losers: Oakland, Denver, Kansas City, Buffalo and an honorable mention for Detroit for spending $41 million on a quarterback and investing very little in upgrading a subpar offensive line.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:38:31)By the way, K Ryan Succob could be the 2nd consecutive Mr. Irrelevant to actually make an NFL roster. Great clutch kicker in his college career.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:36:34)We will wrap up with our quick hit winners and losers (these may change after taking digesting the picks later this evening and tomorrow.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:35:17)We have been tough on the Raiders picks but I think you will be hard pressed to find too many people give them rave reviews. Heyward-Bey is talented receiver but was a reach. Mitchell in round 2 is a nice sleeper but was not worth a day 1 pick. I do think Louis Murphy and Stryker Sulak were solid value picks. My comment on Sulak having the fastest 40 among DEs was done is jest but was also surprisingly true.

Bill     (04-26-2009 16:32:37)You guys sure blasted the Raiders draft choices. I guess thats why your macking big NFL $$ because you all know it all.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:32:30)The Lions take Dan Gronkowski who is a solid value in round 2. He will have a chance to make it as #2 or 3 tight end.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:31:12)Thansk for joining us Rob and to everyone who has joined us during our Live Coverage.

Rob     (04-26-2009 16:30:40)Good work guys, thanks for the commentary.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:29:00)Arizona gets a solid value in G Trevor Canfield whom I think is as good of a prospect as Herman Johnson whom they took in round 5. Canfield should be a good scheme fit.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:26:59)Jacksonville takes a chance on another wide receiver with workout warrior Tiquan Underwood.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:25:10)The Bengals conclude their draft with Freddie Brown WR Utah. Only a 1 year starter Brown made a name for himself with a strong Sugar Bowl but is generally a surprise possession receiver pick.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:22:57)Chicago is reaching deep for a wide receiver Derek Kinder. Highly regarded out of high school Kinder was marginally productive in his Pitt career.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:16:18)Rashad Jennings finally finds a home as the Jacksonville Jaguars select him in round 7. The loss of Fred Taylor opens up a spot but he is a long shot to make an impact.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:15:16)Bengals try to make up for the character risk of Bernard Scott by taking Clinton McDonald a classic try hard, high character DT.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:13:32)Seattle follows up the Nick Reed pick with another solid Pac-10 selection in Cameron Morrah. Morrah has good size and was an excellent red zone receiver. Tremendous athlete for the position.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:11:57)Going back a few spots the Texans took S Troy Nolan in round 7. Nolan goes to a good situation in Houston where they need safety help and his ability knack for the big play could give him a chance.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:10:21)Seattle selects DE/OLB tweener Nick Reed. A good late round value who was the Pac 10 defensive player of the year. Lacks ideal size and speed but has a tremendous motor and could earn a spot in a DE rotation or as a strongside linebacker.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 16:09:44)Lance Louis is a large but quick player. At 300 lbs he could be a blocking tight end or develop as an offensive lineman.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:07:45)The Seahawks get a solid 7th round value in S Courtney Greene. He should have an opportunity to compete for a spot on a weak safety depth chart. Greene was mid-round prospect before having a sub-par senior season. Good hitter and decent all-around skills.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:05:22)Ricky Jean-Francois goes about where i expected as the 49ers select him here in round 7. He has a lot of talent but a questionable motor but is worth a flyer as a 3-4 DE.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 16:04:20)Nick Schommer has some decent coverage skills as a safety. Runs a 4.6 40 and has a 34" vertical. Has a nose for the ball and has a head for football.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:03:23)The Titans take their 3rd wide receiver in the draft in WR Marko Mitchell out of Nevada. Mitchell was a tremendously productive college receiver with good size and known for his ability to get deep (avg over 18 ypc).

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 16:01:16)LaRod Stephens Howling the running back selected by the Cardinals was likely taken as a return specialist. His running back production was marginal behind LeSean McCoy and he is very undersized.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:58:26)The Giants pick of CB Stoney Woodson is about depth and special team ability. I don't see a ton of potential here though.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:56:31)Ryan Durand is an ok 7th rounder for the Titans. Not a great talent but is a hard worker with a chance.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:52:31)The Chiefs trading up for Jake O'Connell is a surprise. He is an H-back type tight end who did not become a starter until his senior year but is a solid special teamer. I have a hunch he might be a long snapper.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:48:18)I like the Colts selection of Jaimie Thomas out of Maryland. He is a big boy who is very strong at the point of attack.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:46:38)It looks like Scott Pioli finally makes a trade getting a 7th rounder from Miami.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:45:53)Zack Follett is a solid 7th round value for the Lions. He is not an elite athlete but he is the type of hard working instinctive type that Jim Schwartz would like to have more of.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:44:50)Of senior bowl running backs Jennings is not the only back to go undrafted thus far as Kory Sheets and Jeremiah Johnson are both still on the board.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:43:42)Rob, you have an excellent question. I think the biggest reason I think Jennings has dropped is because he does not run with the type of power you expect from a 230 pounder. After viewing him at the senior bowl (where he struggled a little bit) they may have decided his production was more of a result of playing against subpar competition.

Rob     (04-26-2009 15:41:45)Any idea why Rashad Jennings hasn't been taken yet?

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:41:05)Sammie Stroughter is a solid late round pick by the Buccaneers. He is an excellent returner who also could develop into a solid slot receiver. In other words he is a lot like Dexter Jackson.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:37:58)From a sleeper perspective I like Philip Hunt out of Houston. He is an undersized defensive end who 24.5 sacks the past two years and would be a good value for one of the many 3-4 defenses. As far as best value on the board i think it is Derek Pegues. He is undersized but has the versatility to play corner and safety and has excellent return skills. I also like offensive linemen Gerald Cagogan and Trevor Canfield.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 15:37:36)Julian Edelman played quarterback at Kent State but projects as wide receiver in the NFL. His knowledge of the play calling will help him in the Patriots system.

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 15:34:26)Who do you think is the best sleeper left?

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:34:09)Minnesota selects S Jamarca Sanford out of Ole Miss. Sanford is a nice value pick here. He is a big hitter and run supporter. He slid because his coverage skills are a little shaky. He will need to make the team based on his special team ability.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:29:39)The Eagles finally take a player for the defensive front 7 in Moise Fokou. He is not a great prospect but works hard and was extremely productive at Maryland.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:27:05)The Lions finally took an offensive lineman here in round 7 with OT Lydon Murtha. While Murtha is a good athlete for the position he has not been able to translate the athleticism into production on the football field thus far.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:25:10)Cowboys take yet another secondary player in cornerback Mike Mickens and he could be a late round steal if his knee is healthy.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:22:37)AQ Shipley is a great value pick for a Steelers team needing help on the interior offensive line. He is limited to the center position and does not have the physical tools you look for but plays with good effort and smarts and is one of the better 7th round picks thus far. He was the 6th rated center on most boards and the top 5 were gone by early in round 4.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:21:07)Blake Schlueter out of TCU is a solid late round center for the Denver Broncos.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:13:40)One thing to consider as we work our way through round 7 is that this is a round where not only do you take best player available but also a guy whom you want to make sure you do not have to compete for as a undrafted free agent.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:12:38)Chargers take a flyer on Demetrius Byrd who is a 4th round talent who slides due to an unfortunate car accident. If healthy this could an excellent value pick.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:09:43)Washington's 7th round pick went towards Eddie Williams who is FB with good receiving skills who also could serve as a backup to H-Back Chris Cooley.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:07:09)Colts prepare for life after Adam Viniatieri or could be looking at McAfee as a replacement for Hunter Smith. A rare punter/kicker.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:03:36)The Buffalo Bills are obviously drafting with an eye towards keeping up with the Patriot wide receivers as they select a 3rd corner in Ellis Lankster. Lankster is a solid prospect with upside but 3 corners is a surprise for a team with 2 solid starters.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 15:00:49)Brad Jones is a curious pick by the Packers. He is not a bad player and is actually a good sleeper linebacker but it is hard to see how he fits in the 4-3. Possibly a developmental 3-4 rush linebacker as Jones has the athleticism and is a good blitzer.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:54:37)Tampa Bay selects EJ Biggers out of Western Michigan. Biggers is an interesting story as the scouts flocked to Western Michigan to see S Louis Delmas but it was Biggers who stole the show with a tremendous workout including a 4.3 40 and 36" vertical.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:50:37)The Captain (Munnerlyn) is finally selected by the Carolina Panthers. He is coming off a tough junior campaign but is an aggressive man corner with return skills who could be a good value pick for the Panthers.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:49:09)Bengals select Fui Vakapuna out of BYU. The Bengals have been hot for Vakapuna much like Pittsburgh was for Frank Summers. He is a big power back who can catch the ball and is a willing blocker for a former runner.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:46:16)JD Folsom is a linebacker/safety tweener who will likely need to make the roster as a special teamer.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:43:21)Andy Reid continues to have a solid draft. Fanaika is also like throwing Andy Reid a bone for letting the team select so many skill position guys this year.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:42:01)Paul Fanaika is a large guard that can be a road grader, but will need to work on his foot work.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:41:56)Javarris Williams is a versatile back who will provide competition in the Chiefs backfield and possibly provide depth in the event LJ is cut.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:37:54)Vance Walker is a good value pick for the Falcons. He will make add solid DT depth in the 4-3.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:36:03)The Bengals will be ridiculed for the selection of RB Bernard Scott. Scott was tremendously productive at Abilene Christian and has a nice burst but also has serious character concerns. Could be a good compliment to Cedric Benson but will due to little to improve the Bengals reputation for ignoring character.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:40:09)While it is hard to criticize 7th round picks, I am not a big fan of Ogbonnaya but he fills a need for competition behind Steven Jackson.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:32:28)Phillips is a solid TE prospect but is a surprise pick by the Cowboys because TE is one of their strongest positions. A hard worker and willing blocker Phillips could earn a 3rd TE/special teamer role.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:29:55)I agree Doug, Myron Pryor has nose tackle written all over him.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:29:10)Excuse me, I mean Patriots defense. Definitely a good nose tackle.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:29:03)Tennessee takes a flyer on another WR late in round 6 with Dominique Edison out of Stephen F. Austin. Edison has a good size speed combination at 6-2, sub 4.5 and is coming off a tremendous senior year highlighted by 18 touchdowns. Obviously competition question is a concern.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:28:40)Myron Pryor has good size and can be a run stuffer in the Dallas defense.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:26:57)Ra'Shon "Sonny" Harris out of Oregon is a worth the late round flyer for the Steelers. Has the size and strength to be a developmental 3-4 DE.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:24:35)Arizona's selection of Will Davis out of Illinois is a bit curious as he does not appear to be a good fit for the 3-4. Has the speed for rush linebacker but not the pass rush skills and is not big enough for DE.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:20:05)Jason McCourty at CB out of Rutgers goes to the Titans. He is a workout warrior with excellent timed speed but his coverage instincts are questionable.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:17:42)Brandon Myers is a surprise pick for the Raiders because blocking tight ends are never very fast. Tom Cable finally won an argument in the draft room.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:15:01)Colts take a flyer on QB Curtis Painter out of Purdue. Painter really struggled as a senior but has the tools including a strong arm to get a long look in Colts camp. He really helped his stock with a great week in the Texas vs. the World game.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:13:08)DeAndre Wright is a depth cornerback selection for the Giants he has good size at 5'11 and has solid cover skills but is not much of a tackler and is injury prone.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:08:19)But Styker Sulak is a good athlete and had the best 40 of any DE left on the board.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:07:34)Stryker Sulak is an odd pick for the Raiders, I don't see him as being a good fit at DE.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:07:09)Cowboys have made the secondary a focus on day two with their 3rd back 4 pick in S Stephen Hodge out of TCU. He is a big hitter who is a coverage liability in pass coverage.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 14:05:34)Jake Ingram is an excellent long snapper from Hawaii a need for the Patriots.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 14:04:09)I don't remember a year in which so many unheralded guys have been selected. It appears William Hayes' success last year led every team to beat even more bushes and give the smaller schools a much closer look than usual.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:58:41)The Browns finally get a running back who last year at this time was a first rounder

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:55:05)Gibson is an outstanding route runner who suffered from playing on an awful Washington St team

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:53:48)Jets pick G Matt Slauson out of Nebraska and while teammate Lydon Murtha got more pub for a great combine workout. When teams watched the tape Slauson is the Cornhusker lineman who stood out.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:51:46)It is mystifying that the Lions would spend $41 million on a quarterback and through 6 rounds have not selected a single lineman to give him a fighting chance.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 13:50:19)The Lions must think they have a better interior line than anyone else does.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:49:44)Aaron Brown has some upside at running back. How can this team ignore their interior offensive line?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:48:37)Coye Frances has good ball skills but slow 40 time and character issues hurt Frances stock. A good value for Cleveland

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 13:46:18)Bears gave Afalaya a private workout and it appears they liked what they saw. Is quick with sub 4.5 40's.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:42:43)Texans pick Brice McCain is a workout warrior who was the star to the Utes pro day where he ran a 4.3 40 at the Utah pro day. Like many of this year's corners his stock is hindered by a lack of size.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:40:17)Kevin ellison is a bright and instinctive football player. Ellison is an outstanding blitzer from the safety position

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:35:42)Brandon Underwood is a tremendous safety prospect in round 6. Underwood has some experience at corner as well

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:32:25)I am not a fan of Buffalo's Cary Harris pick. He had a terrible combine and pro day. A hamstring injury may have been part of the problem but i think he may be a product of the system.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:30:50)Robert Henson is a WLB with good speed and football awareness

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 13:29:15)I think Chris Baker even with his off field issues would be a good pick for the Redskins here.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:27:39)The Ravens are deep at running back. Peerman will struggle to make this roster

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:25:37)Poscoe is one the best blocking tight ends on the board and is almost like an offensive tackle

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:24:20)Harris lacks elite timed speed but has good football smarts and should make the roster

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:20:33)For the 2nd straight year the Jaguars picked a position to fix and invested heavily in it. Last year it was DE with Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves and this year it was offensive tackle with Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton. I also like the two mid round wideouts Mike Thomas and Jarrett Dillard. Not sure 3rd round Terrance Knighton is the answer to their DT problems.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:20:32)Wynn has the tall and lean frame to play in a 3-4 as a DE for the Packers

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:19:10)I meant to say can't afford

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:18:20)Zach Miller and Derrick Cox are interesting picks. The Jags grade went down once they traded a second round pick next year for Derrick Cox. This team can afford to make this type of trade

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:18:10)Jacksonville's most recent pick is a bit of a surprise. Zach Miller was a college quarterback with decent athleticism who will likely convert to TE in the NFL.

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 13:17:00)What do you think of Jacksonville's draft thus far?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:12:12)Morgan Trent is more of a safety prospect. Coye Frances has more upside

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:08:59)Seattle selects Mike Teel and while a bit of a surprise he was one of the best quarterbacks in the country the 2nd half of last season.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:05:50)It took 6 rounds but the Browns finally take a corner and Carey has good upside for a 6th round pick.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:04:46)Don Carey has decent size speed combination. Good in run support

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:04:04)At least the networks will finally stop talking about there not being any Hurricanes selected yet.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:03:06)Spencer Adkins is a traditional speedy Miami Linebacker. Isn't as aggressive as the traditional Miami linebacker. Lacks height

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 13:01:27)Quinten Lawrence of McNeese State is the Chiefs selection. He has a lot of potential and is esp. known for his speed and run after catch ability.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 13:00:48)Quentin Lawrence Has outstanding speed for a small school receiver. Had injury problems as a senior.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:54:17)Brandstatter looks the part of a Day One pick but for some reason he isn't a complete package. Does have more upside than someone like Brian Hoyer

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:51:00)Ringer adds depth to this roster and unfortunately for Ringer he won't get many reps. He might have been better off as an undrafted free agent

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:47:16)Buehler is the best tackling kicker in the history of college football. He will likely win the kicking competition in Dallas this summer

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:46:24)The Patriots are really showing the importance of adding some depth on the offensive line with 3 selections thus far. They have a lot of lineman slated to be free agents to in 2010 and 2011 and they were smart to start developing their replacements now. Of course, aside from Vollmer i question the lineman they have selected.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:45:09)Would anyone here give a pick in round 6 to Tampa for Josh Johnson? I felt he was a good sleeper last year

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 12:43:49)Nate Davis is a nice pick for the 49ers who have a questions still at quarterback. He won't start, but can develop into a future starter with San Francisco.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:43:25)Nate Davis has fallen on a lot of boards but with Shaun Hill and Alex Smith he has a chance to be a starter in 2010

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:43:00)The Steelers are extremely happy to get FB Frank Summers out of UNLV. The Steelers have been smitten with him since his pro day. A great athlete for 5'9 240 pounds. Excellent power runner who needs to continue to grow as a blocker.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:42:31)Bussey is slow footed and will have a hard time making it out of Patriots camp. Could be a practice squad candidate

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:41:04)Steelers take UCF's Joe Burnett an undersized corner with good return skills. Has good awareness and ball skills but lacks the straight line to run with receivers deep.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:38:12)It is not a surprise to see Herman Johnson fall this far. He is big but lacks strength and was easily the worst lineman at the Senior Bowl. He may be a good scheme fit but he needs a lot of work on technique and in the weight room. How can a guy his size have just 21 reps at the combine.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:34:47)Herman Johnson is a project and will benefit from Russ Grimm's coaching style in Arizona

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:33:40)There is a run on Clemson safeties as the Cowboys select Michael Hamlin. Hamlin is a great value here and is a smart safety with excellent coverage awareness.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:31:33)Miami's secondary facelift continues with S Chris Clemons a good athlete a centerfielder type who is also good in run support. Not the best coverage awareness though.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:29:22)Saints take Thomas Morstead. A great field position weapon Morstead had just 10 touchbacks in the last 3 years.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:27:23)I am not overly impressed with Miami's 2nd day. Patrick Turner was a big reach and Hartline and Nalbone were not esp. good values either.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:25:52)NFLDraft101 best available: MLB Darry Beckwith, RB Javon Ringer, S Derek Pegues, S Michael Hamlin, CB Mike Mickens, OT Gerald Cadogan

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:25:11)Finally Duke Robinson is off the board. For a team that likes to run the ball Duke Robinson is an ideal fit in Carolina

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 12:25:09)Miami went with tight end John Nalbone, who is the career leader at 101 receptions for Monmouth.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:22:58)With TJ Lang and Jamon Meredith the give the Packers two long term tackle prospects

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:22:57)Jamon Meredith is a great value pick here. I know he had some problems with the South Carolina coaching staff but has developmental tackle potential for a tackle needy team.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:21:30)How about three North Carolina wide receivers getting drafted? The Tar Heels could end up with more NFL draftees than NBA draftees this year despite winning the NCAA Basketball title.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:16:52)Foster is the third member of the tar heel wide receiving corps. Should get a chance to play early for the Rams young WR corps

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:14:06)Tupuo is one of the best right tackle prospects on the board. Should have been drafted earlier. Another big time value pick for the Eagles

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:12:55)Only started one year at Nebraska. Best fit is at MLB. Had some problems with coaching staff. Limited upside

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:11:37)If Victor Harris was faster he would have been drafted much sooner. May need to play safety for Philly.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:07:31)Victor Harris is a hard hitting corner. Needs to improve deep cover skills

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:06:37)Falcons look to add depth to their offensive line with OT/G Garrett Reynolds. Tremendous size and a hard worker. Has good bloodlines as his father played in the NFL and his uncle is Hacksaw Reynolds.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:06:32)Freeman is a classic 4-3 WLB. Hillemeyer's play has slipped and Freeman could push for playing time

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 12:02:44)If Xavier Fulton sees the field in Tampa, the holding penalties will go through the roof! Should get moved to guard

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 12:01:18)The Eagles are having a tremendous draft thus far. Andy Reid has been drinking from the skill position Kool-Aid and added a good WR, RB and TE. Ingram is a great value in round 5 and well worth the injury risk at this point.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:59:11)Harvin is a character risk but gives their offense another player and Loadholt, Allen and Brinkley were each good values.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:57:53)They have addressed needs with Harvin and Loadholt. Asher Allen could eventually push Antoine Winfield and his big contract demands out the door

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 11:56:53)What do you think about Minnesota's draft thus far?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:56:25)Ingram is an outstanding value for the Eagles. He is another guy who had a first round grade at one point who will likely be another late round steal for Philly

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:55:06)Casey is a best available pick. Back2Back TEs is a surprise but Hill is the blocker and Casey the receiver. Owen Daniels is a good tight but i believe he will be a free agent after next season.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:52:31)It looks like Houston is running the Missouri offense with three good tight ends

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:51:11)Bomar is right where he should go, round 5. He like all other quarterbacks on the board are camp bodies

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:46:42)Jasper Brinkley and Erin Henderson will make up the great talent/unfortunate knee injury linebacking corps in Minnesota

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:43:52)I agree Dan, Drew is a blocking/receiver combo tight end but it is very surprising to see him go above Casey and Ingram.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:41:27)Davon Drew is not a bad pick, but with James Casey and Cornelius Ingram on the board I am surprised by this pick

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:39:24)The Chargers select Brandon Hughes out of Oregon State. I am not a fan of Hughes. He is a track guy who looks uncomfortable in coverage.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:36:18)The Bills make another solid day 2 pick in S/OLB Nic Harris. He is new to the position but worth a flyer here in round 5 after a solid performance at LB at the Senior Bowl.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:36:03)Nic Harris is making the transition from safety to linebacker. Will likely have to make his mark on special teams first

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:32:28)McKillop is good long term replacement for Takeo Spikes. Very smart player

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:32:11)Quinn Johnson is one of the best blocking backs in the draft but is not the type to contribute in recieving or as a rusher.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:29:04)In selecting Dillard and Mike Thomas the Jaguars appear to have finally decided to look at the whole receiver class and not just the tall ones.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:27:36)Jacksonville adds a tremendous 5th round value in Jarrett Dillard. He does not have elite size or speed but has great hands, tremendous vertical and run good routes.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:26:50)Jacksonville needed help at receiver and got a proven route runner. Jacksonville finally has receivers and not just athletes

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:26:35)Smith is most likely going to be a safety in Dallas. He has tremendous ball skills but struggles to run with receivers in man coverage. By the way his teammate Mike Mickens has a knee concern but would be a great value here.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:24:41)Deangelo Smith is a good scheme fit for Dallas. Go into 2008, the Cincinnati secondary was considered the top in the county and it took until round 5 for the first member to be selected

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:22:29)I have not been overly impressed with KC's draft thus far. The picks are ok at best but the bigger surprise is they have not made any moves up or down.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:19:54)The Bengals fan predicted the Kevin Huber pick months ago. Rare does a fan base want a kick this badly but the Cincinnati product is easily the best punter in the draft.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:19:35)Our 7 round mock was right, a punter would go before a kicker. Huber fills a big need for Cincy

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:17:03)I would give it a C-. Tyson Jackson is a reach at #3. They should have tried to deal Glenn Dorsey based on poor scheme fit. Alex Magee I am not high on. They also have not helped their O-Line

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 11:15:29)What do you think of Scott Pioli's first draft in KC thus far?

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 11:15:20)Johnny Knox is another fast wide receiver for the Bears. He can get downfield and will help spread the passing game for the Bears.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:12:30)Cornelius Ingram. Ingram has first round talent despite the injury

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 11:11:32)Which player still available has fallen most unexpectedly?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:11:29)The Chiefs can't afford to waste pick on their offensive line. Even though it is the fifth round, a player like Duke Robinson could have started right away for KC

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:09:02)Nice spin for an unheralded pick dan. I don't know much about him beyond being a smallish corner with good ball skills.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:07:58)Middleton lives in Atlanta and ran a 4.46 40 time. This is pick is all about geography in my opinion

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:04:18)If not for his recent torn meniscus surgery, he would have been drafted much sooner. A good player who could really develop down the road. Classic overachiever.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:02:47)Jason Phillips is a perfect fit for Baltimore. He has the nastiness and toughness to play in Baltimore. A future Ray Lewis replacement?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 11:01:26)They should take it on the road but be selective about location. Places like Cleveland, Green Bay, Chicago, and Kansas City would provide great enviroments. Stay away from the west coast

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 11:00:00)Taylor is a nice value for Indy in round 4. Overall, the Colts are quietly having a very efficient draft filling their DT need with Fili Moala and Terrence Taylor while also adding RB Donald Brown, WR Austin Collie, and CB Jerraud Powers. As usual Bill Polian having a solid draft.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 10:59:10)There is talk of taking the draft on the road. Do you think they should keep it in New York or hit the road?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:58:47)Troy Kroprog can contribute at either guard or tackle. Probably a better fit at guard for the Titans

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:57:04)I meant to say Lito Sheppard

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:57:02)The addition of Darius Butler and Brandon Tate made Ellis Hobbs expendable. Hobbs being in a contract year probably had something to do with the deal as well.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:55:59)The Eagles acquired Ellis Hobbs for picks 137 and 141. Good replacement for Brian Dawkins

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:54:34)The Chargers have obviously been making a committment to upgrading in the trenches with 4 of their 5 picks playing O-line or in the front seven. The exception is RB Gartrell Johnson whom they hope can develop into a Michael Turner like role.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:54:21)Mark this down Gartrell Johnson will be the next Michael Turner. Not as fast as Turner, but powerful and explosive. He will make an impact as a rookie

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:52:00)Olsen is a solid pick for Denver. Not spectacular but could eventually start at guard

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:51:06)Tyrone Green is an interesting pick for San Diego. Green is athletic and is still learning the position

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:50:53)NFLDraft101 best available: G Duke Robinson, MLB Darry Beckwith, TE Cornelius Ingram, OT Fenuki Tupou, TE James Casey, OLB Marcus Freeman, RB Javon Ringer, S Derek Pegues, DT Terrance Taylor, MLB Jasper Brinkley.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:46:19)Arizona takes one of the most popular sleepers in the draft in Greg Toler out of St. Paul's College

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:43:38)Not surprising. Running backs beyond round 2 need to be highly powerful or super fast. Most of the backs on the board are neither

Steve     (04-26-2009 10:42:44)How surprised are you that the running backs have been sliding?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:42:34)McGrath is a good linebacker of the future prospect. The Titan linebacking corps is getting old

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:41:15)Andre Brown will end up taking the place of Derrick Ward in the Giant backfield. Ahmed Bradshaw will have competition for playing time next year

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:40:40)The question with Fiametta is whether the Panthers will take advantage of his receiving skills.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:39:49)Fiametta is another solid weapon in the Panther backfield.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:39:11)I agree Collie is a great selection for Indy. An ideal fit for their system and his presence could allow them to keep Anthony Gonzalez in his preferred slot receiver role.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:37:46)Ohrnberger is reach considering Duke Robinson is still on the board. The Patriots will need to be patient with their offensive line picks

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:35:09)Collie is already fundamentally sound and the learning curve is less than most receivers at this point. Good pick by the Colts.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:31:01)Sidbury can contribute to Atlanta as either a 4-3 SLB or a DE. I am Surprised the Jamaal Anderson for Glenn Dorsey trade didn't take place based on scheme fit

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:30:48)My vote goes for DJ Moore by Chicago. He is an ideal fit for their scheme and a great value in round 4.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:29:56)I think Rey Mauluga is the top steal in the draft. He has Ray Lewis type of leadership and toughness

Anonymous     (04-26-2009 10:29:19)who would be the biggest steal at his point in the draft.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:29:14)Louis Murphy is the best pick by the Raiders so far. Murphy has outstanding speed

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:26:11)I think NE is trading up for Cornelius Ingram

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:25:27)Anthony Hill is also the one of the top blocking tight ends in the draft. A better athlete than he is given credit for. Hill will be another year away from his knee injury.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:24:01)One guy i am surprised is still available is TE James Casey. He lacks ideal TE size but is versatile and reminds me a little of Chris Cooley.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:23:54)The Texans good draft continues. Anthony Hill is a solid red zone target who was the victim of bad quarterback play in Raleigh

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:23:25)I agree Buffalo gets a tremendous value in tight end Shawn Nelson. Great athlete and a willing blocker.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:22:18)Finally one the top TE is off the board. Trendous value to Buffalo. Nelson is probably a better blocker than starting left tackle Langston Walker

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:21:26)Dallas' selection of Brandon Williams is a nice 4th round value. He will be a situational pass rusher early. All he does it get sacks.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:20:26)Brandon Williams can't play the run worth a lick, but he is one the best pass rushers on the board. He had almost as many sacks as tackles in the running game

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:16:23)I agree Dan, DJ Moore has tremendous coverage instincts and should be an ideal fit for the Bears Cover 2 defense. A young Nathan Vasher type.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:15:42)New Orleans must like how Jim Grobe develops prospects at Wake Forest with two almost back2back Demon Deacon picks.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:15:32)The best value pick of the draft. He is already the Bears best receiver. Moore is equally talented as Alphonso Smith and didn't cost a 2010 first round pick

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:14:15)Arnoux should get a chance to play at SLB with the lack of talent the Saints have at this positon

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:09:05)Denver's recent selection of David Bruton is one of their best value picks in the draft thus far. Expect him to be an excellent special teamer as a rookie who could grow into a strong safety job when Brian Dawkins retires.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:08:38)Kyle Moore is similar to Fili Moala in skill set. Can play both DT and DE in a 4-3

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:05:29)Sammie Lee Hill out of Stillman is a bit of a reach but NT are in short supply at this point in the draft forcing the reach. One NT/3-4 DE that has surprisingly not been taken is Chris Baker out of Hampton.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:05:25)Vaughn is an underrated prospect who got over shadowed by Aaron Curry and Alphonso Smith. Tremedous tackler

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:03:59)Moore's lack of size and speed seems to be hurting him. You also have to wonder how well he interviewed, has an injury concern or failed a drug test.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:03:04)Sammie Lee Hill is another NT from a small school. Here's a lesson to small school defensive tackles, get really fat your senior year

josh     (04-26-2009 10:02:50)Why is D.J Moore still on the board?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 10:02:02)David Bruton is a physical safety might start pretty quickly

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 10:00:42)San Diego surprises a little with one of the top sleepers in the draft Vaughn Martin out of Western Ontario. Great athlete who projects to nose tackle at 6-3 328. Out of Canada, Martin put up 32 bench press reps and ran a 5.0 40 at his pro day. The pick is about upside but is a risk worth taking for a team whose NT Jamal Williams is getting up in age.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:59:54)Von Martin could be a William Hayes type sleeper. The Chargers need depth at NT

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:58:06)Connor Barwin and Brian Cushing if used right could give the Texans a great pass rush

Josh     (04-26-2009 09:57:16)The two teams I love what they are doing. Cincinnati is having there best draft in a while, and Houston is having an outstanding draft as well.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:55:24)Houston selects CB/S Glover Quin. He is a big hitter who have a chance to contribute in the Texan secondary (most likely at safety).

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:54:22)I agree unless they see Goodson as a returner, I don't see the value in the pick.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:52:12)Carolina is not a good situation for Mike Goodson. He supposedly has attitude problems and with Stewart and Williams already there, goodson needs an attitude adjustment

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:51:38)Two teams whom I liked on day one but have struggled today are Cleveland and Detroit. After adding Alex Mack and Brian Robiskie with their 1st 2 picks, I have not agreed with many of their picks. The other team is Detroit. After getting the top QB, TE and S on day one i am disappointed with their DeAndre Levy and Derrick Williams selections. Not bad players but it is disappointing to see them passing on upgrading their offensive and defensive lines.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 09:51:09)None of mine have at this point. To recap... LOSERS: Oakland, Denver, Detriot WINNERS: Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Green Bay and Philadelphia.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:48:35)The only team I can think of is Jacksonville. You give up a future second round pick for a guy with a seventh round grade

josh     (04-26-2009 09:46:30)Thru round four have your winners and losers changed?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:45:54)TJ lang will be a good long term prospect at tackle for the Packers. He has the ability to be a starter by 2010

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:45:20)Hartline should adjust quickly to the pro grame. very good route runner

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:44:28)Donald Washington is good long term prospect for KC. Its like getting a first round in 2009.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:44:07)Packers select their right tackle of the future with TJ Lang. A nice 4th round value.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:43:49)I think it negates Aaron Curry. The combination of all three would have been special

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:41:24)Doug and Dan, one of the stories flying under the draft radar is how the Seahawks pulled the franchise tag from LB Leroy Hill. What do you think of this move and does it negate the benefit of adding Aaron Curry to their defense?

josh     (04-26-2009 09:38:44)You can see the direction they are going. Getting big, physical lineman!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:37:23)Melton is an intriguing prospect for the Bears. Played running back on the 05 longhorns title team

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:37:00)Cincinnati continues to add nice value with each pick. Getting Luigs allows them to fill one of their top needs. He is a good athlete who helped open rushing lanes for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. Also his strength could be an asset playing against nose tackles in the AFC North.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:34:30)Luigs is a solid run blocker, needs work in pass protection

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:34:30)Luigs is a solid run blocker, needs work in pass protection

josh     (04-26-2009 09:33:17)Finally a center! What is your guys thoughts on Luigs?

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:30:04)Browns take USC linebacker Kaluka Maiava. He will add depth at inside linebacker but i am not as high on him as many others as he lacks size and speed.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:25:17)Rams take Dorell Scott. He is a solid pick who has tremendous measureables for a DT. Unfortunately, he has never played up to those measureables and is not nearly the interior pass rusher you would expect for his athleticism.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:21:37)The Chiefs are sticking with the defensive theme by selecting Donald Washington. Washington has tremendous measureables and could be a steal but is far from a sure thing after getting benched at Ohio State this year.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:19:48)Draft101 best available: TE Shawn Nelson, CB DJ Moore, G Duke Robinson, MLB Darry Beckwith, DE Lawrence Sidbury, TE Cornelius Ingram, OT Fenuki Tupou, and TE James Casey.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:17:45)McGee is a bit of a surprise but he has a lot of potential and might be used in as a wildcat option initially. He will be given a chance to develop into Romo's backup down the road.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:15:45)You get the feeling the Giants have determined they needed to get some taller receivers to help Eli Manning and his penchant for sailing passes. Barden, Beckum and Nicks will give the Giants receiving corps are major overhaul. The question is how quickly will they be able to contribute.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:13:12)If healthy Beckum is a steal for the Giants. Beckum could have been a 1st rounder without the leg injury

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 09:10:08)Bears finally get a WR. Juaquin Iglesias is a good compliment to Hester and will benefit from Cutler behind center.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:09:49)Iglesias is a solid possession receiver for the Bears. Oklahoma receiver prospects have fared well recently

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 09:09:16)Maybe i am in the minority but i worry about Coffman's ability to make the jump to the pro game. He is a poor blocker and lacks speed.

Josh     (04-26-2009 09:06:51)I like the Coffman pick for Cincy!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:06:47)Coffman isn't the most athletic TE on the board. Should have gone with Ingram or Shawn Nelson

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:05:33)The Bill Cosby segment was a waste

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:04:43)McKenzie is a tackling machine who could turn into an eventual starter on the inside

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 09:03:13)Dan, you must be a kid... they say the funniest things! Interesting to see Bill Cosby on ESPN!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:02:08)I all of sudden have a craving for pudding pops

josh     (04-26-2009 09:00:30)Good call dan.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 09:00:28)Lewis is an underrated cover guy for the Steelers. The Steelers pass defense has always been their pass rush

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:59:29)NE has added some quality in the secondary so far. Vollmer and Brandon tate are projects. At least they actually used some of their picks in rounds 2-3

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:57:21)Rashad Johnson is arguably the best value pick on the board. The Cardinal pass defense is needs work

josh     (04-26-2009 08:57:07)The media kissing up to NE. That is a shock!

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:56:59)I think Mouton is an excellent pick for the Titans. They needed to add a good young corner and Mouton has the speed and physical style to fit their scheme. Another one of those sleeper picks going a little earlier than expected.

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 08:56:58)Mouton is only 5-9 185lbs. He's fast, but will struggle against the tall strong receivers in the NFL.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:55:34)They at least have to use their compensation picks

josh     (04-26-2009 08:54:33)When is NE start taking some of there picks?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:53:40)Mouten is a fast riser and playing the WAC has lots of experience playing the pass. Will likely start off as a dime corner

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:53:04)NE could eventually turn into Tampa Bay where they rely too much on veterans

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:52:00)Irvin has limited upside. Should be a rotation tackle for Panthers

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:48:21)Powers is a good value for Indy at this point considering speed and ability to play the run

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:45:54)Deon Butler is another reach. At least get a polished receiver like Jarrett Dillard if you are getting an undersized receiver

josh     (04-26-2009 08:44:50)Patriots skock piling picks for next season.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:44:47)Owens is yet another of the many draft sleepers who are going two rounds early to insure team's get a guy their staff has targeted.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:43:38)I like the Titans pick of Jared Cook. He is a good value here is not only a good red zone target but catch stretch defense down the seam as well. By adding Kenny Britt and Cook the Titans have done an excellent job of upgrading their receiving options

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:42:40)Why is DJ Moore still on the board? Christopher Owens is a fifth round talent

josh     (04-26-2009 08:40:51)I think we might see a run on TE because of value.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:39:27)Jared Cook along with Kenny Britt give the Titans two good young red zone threats

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:38:22)At some point the Patriots need to use some of their picks. The second day guys they have picked the last two years have not worked out for them

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:36:10)Webb is a physical corner who fits the Raven's scheme. This team needs youth at corner

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:35:24)TE would be a great value for Cincy at the end of round 3

Josh     (04-26-2009 08:34:59)With Cincy coming up do you take a Tight End here? I would love to have Ingram?

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:34:33)Turner is a huge reach for Miami. He has great size but was not esp. productive in the USC's high powered offensive. I thought this would be the year the USC tall, slow wide out was selected in the right round but the third round is way too early.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:34:05)TE is the best value position right now

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 08:32:51)Best Available: TE Shawn Nelson CB DJ Moore G Duke Robinson ILB Darry Beckwith DE Lawrence Sidbury TE Cornelius Ingram OT Fenuki Tupou S Rashad Johnson TE Jared Cook TE James Casey

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:32:39)Allen is not the fastest receiver but has excellent awareness and is very fluid in coverage. Also is a willing run supporter.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:32:19)Allen is a little slow, but is very good in run support

josh     (04-26-2009 08:31:48)Why is Miami taking Turner?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:31:44)Patrick Turner is slower than some offensive linemen. Turner is yet WR flop for USC

josh     (04-26-2009 08:31:14)Isn't Asher a little slow for his size?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:28:41)Asher Allen could push Antoine Winfield out of Minnesota. Winfield's contract demands are going to be ridiculous. Allen is a great sleeper at corner

Josh     (04-26-2009 08:27:29)Great pick by the Giants. Barden 6'6 is a great redzone guy!

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:24:31)Detroit had a great first day adding the top QB, TE and S in the draft but you have to wonder why they have not selected a offensive or defensive linemen thus far. To invest $41 million in Matthew Stafford and not upgrade his protection is a mistake.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:24:25)I think the Giants may have taken the Eagles guy. Barden is the red zone replacement for Plaxico

Doug Lancy     (04-26-2009 08:24:19)We're on a WR run, the last 4 picks have been receivers.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:22:52)The only reasoning I see is Duke Robinson not being able to play tackle. Duke Robinson will be a great value for someone

josh     (04-26-2009 08:22:48)Great pick by Detroit. I am a big fan of Derrick Williams.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:21:56)Like Levy, Wallace was one of my sleeper picks in the draft but you have to wonder if he is a good value here. He is an excellent deep threat but he struggles with his route running and is a bit of a body catcher. He is an excellent returner which should free Santonio Holmes of that role. Most likely drafted as a returner.

Sean     (04-26-2009 08:21:50)Why is Duke Robinson falling?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:21:47)I can't believe the Eagles and Giants were able to make a trade

josh     (04-26-2009 08:21:11)Why did NE take a wr?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:19:33)Mike Wallace has upside, but Pittsburgh should have considered DJ Moore or Duke Robinson

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:18:04)Brandon Tate has a lot of upside, but did fail a drug test. The media is going to give NE an A on their draft but I'm not seeing it right now

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:12:28)Derrick Williams is a good value pick for the Lions, they shouldn't have wasted their pick on Levy

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:10:29)Roy Miller was a workout warrior. A little undersized and a bit of a reach.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:06:15)Barnes has decent size for a corner and comes from a good program for producing NFL talent

josh     (04-26-2009 08:04:39)I do agree with what dan said earlier. There has been a lot of reaches this year.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:04:35)Urbick fits the profile of a Steeler offensive linemen. He should start right away

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 08:02:27)In general, round 3 has an odd feel this year. After watching Jason Williams go to Dallas early in the round is almost as if a lot of the teams decided it was time to take their sleeper picks a round or two early.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 08:02:04)the chargers may have solved their right side offfensive line problems by getting Louis Vasquez

Josh     (04-26-2009 08:01:32)I get Johnsons talent, he is a first round talent but center is SUCH a big need.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:58:57)Caldwell would have been a good fit for KC. But I like the Talent the Bengals are acquiring. Sometimes talent overshadows need

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:57:56)Cadwell off the board! I like Johnson, but Cadwell should have been taken. I was much of a need for Cincy!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:57:52)The Texans run a zone blocking scheme and Caldwell is a perfect fit

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:56:28)DJ Moore is the best player on the board right now

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:53:47)Deandre Levy is a good fit only if he can play MLB. Ernie Simms and Julian Peterson anchor the outside

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:52:52)there have been a lot reaches in this draft so far

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:52:13)Robert Brewster has the typical size of a Dallas offensive lineman

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:51:39)Doesn't Dallas have to draft a guard here?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:50:20)I can't believe Jacksonville gave up a second rounder in next year's draft for Derrick Cox?

josh     (04-26-2009 07:48:21)Great interview with Marvin on ESPN!

josh     (04-26-2009 07:47:08)Glenn Coffee? Does SF need a RB?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:47:03)Frank Gore will break down at this rate. Glenn Coffee gives them a good second option

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:43:11)Jacksonville is having a great draft. Fix there o-line and now to the other side of the ball.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:43:07)Derrick Cox? They traded up for Derrick Cox? With DJ Moore on the board why do you reach for Derrick Cox?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:41:30)Terrance Knightnon is a big boy and a typical Jaguar defensive tackle, he's big. He is one of the better defensive tackles on day two

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:39:10)I still would have taking Cadwell for the Bengals. I like Johnson, Athletically gifted as you see, but they need a center.

Chris Maier     (04-26-2009 07:38:57)I think the Bengals are having a great draft thus far, they haven't gotten a center but Maualuga and Johnson were great values where they were selected. Look for Johnson to upgrade the pass rusher as a situational pass rusher. He helps the Bengals regain the league lead in players named Johnson.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:38:06)Shaughnessy is the best pick of the Raiders draft so far. Tall and lean and could be a good pass rusher if coached up

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:35:01)I like the value in Michael Johnson here. If he just contibutes on 3rd down its a great pick

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:34:11)We pass on another Center in this slot. Johnson, great pass rusher.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:30:58)Jaison Williams is a bit raw and a long term replacement for Keith Brooking

josh     (04-26-2009 07:30:35)TAKE THE CENTER!

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:27:34)Gilbert is a typical bear pick! Good value!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:25:39)Great pick for the Bears. Can play both end and tackle for the Bears

josh     (04-26-2009 07:24:42)I agree, he is a bit small? Dorsey isn't 3-4 guy, he is a 4-3. Could Dorsey be on his way out?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:22:18)Scott Pioli must not believe height is important for a 3-4 DE. Magee and Glenn Dorsey are both 6-3 which is a bit small for 3-4 DE

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:18:55)I actually had Gilbert as a second round grade due to versatility

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:18:23)Is Gilbert a 3rd grade?

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:17:37)Jarron Gilbert and Chris Baker are ideal 3-4 DL fits for KC here

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:16:56)With a Justin Tuck clone like Jarron Gilbert on the board i don't like this pick. If you wanted a cover corner get DJ Moore

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:15:34)I don't think the Jets gave up too much. WR is weak beyond this pick and they are solid at several positions on the OL and on defense

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:14:39)Did they give up to much? The Jets only have one more pick left which is a sixth rounder.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:12:43)Thomas Jones could be a June 1 casualty

josh     (04-26-2009 07:12:24)Bye, bye thomas jones!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:11:57)I like the Shonn Greene pick. The Jets need a power back desperately

josh     (04-26-2009 07:08:26)Intresting! Thomas Jones a lion? The jets don't have the picks to move up. I wonder if it is a player to move up to that slot.

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:06:57)The Jets are now on the clock

Josh     (04-26-2009 07:06:19)And who exactly is going to snap the ball. I agree you can use depth at the position. THEY HAVE NO CENTER!

josh     (04-26-2009 07:05:12)Mayock just said Oakland draft was questionable! It was down right bad!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:04:35)You may kill me Josh, but I would take DJ Moore. I am not sold on Jonathan Joseph and Leon Hall as franchise corners

josh     (04-26-2009 07:03:42)Let day two begin. I am hoping Cincy takes the Center now. Time to get it over with!

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 07:01:25)The Lions have done well so far. The only thing I don't like about their draft is no offensive linemen or front seven help draft so far

Dan Wernery     (04-26-2009 06:58:05)Welcome to Day Two of the 2009 NFL Draft live interactive blog. No need to register, submit your question or comment. We will be here until Mr Irrelevant is announced

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:13:47)Thanks for joining us today. Be sure to join NFLDraft101.com for complete day two coverage of the 2009 NFL Draft starting at 10 am.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:13:06)To close our day one coverage here is a list of the best available players after day one: TE Shawn Nelson, CB DJ Moore, DT/DE Jarron Gilbert, G Duke Robinson, ILB Darry Beckwith,DE Michael Johnson, DE Lawrence Sidbury, TE Cornelius Ingram, OT Fenuki Tupou, and S Rashad Johnson.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:10:51)I may rescind my Steelers day one loser selection after hearing they received two picks in the middle of the 3rd round for him (they did give up their 4th in the deal as well).

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:06:34)Anquan Boldin is also a day one loser as he did not get his wish of a trade and a new contact.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 19:06:32)WINNERS: Colts, Bengals, Packers and Eagles.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:05:50)My winners are: Philadelphia, NY Jets, Cincinnati and Miami

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 19:05:24)Winners Eagles, Jacksonville, and Minnesota

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 19:02:39)My losers are Oakland, Buffalo, Denver and Pittsburgh.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 19:02:00)LOSERS: Besides Denver and Oakland, I will say Detroit. Although I liked Stafford, I really don't like their choices of Pettigrew and Delmas. Although not bad players, I feel the passed on better players.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:59:01)I think Carolina should not have given up a 1st rounder next year for Everette Brown considering they don't run a 3-4

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:57:31)Besides Denver and Oakland, is there another day one loser?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:57:24)To wrap up today's coverage let's take a quick look at our day one winner's and loser's. We will also have a day one recap article posted later this evening.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:56:29)Another puzzling trade by the Broncos. Richard Quinn is a blocking tight end with a mid/late round grade and Broncos already have Daniel Graham on the roster. Quinn's stock has been on the rise but there was no need to trade up for him.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:50:05)Were down to the last pick of the first day! With only 10 minutes to make picks instead of 15 like last year, it definitely sped up the draft.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:49:10)The Cardinals select Cody Brown. Brown is a good athlete and solid pass rush prospect who should be an excellent fit for the team's 3-4 defense.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:46:29)Sen'Derrick Marks is a bit of a need pick for Tennesee pick. Marks was once considered on of the top DT prospects in the country but his played dropped off this year. Look for him to be a rotational guy as the Titans look to replace Albert Haynesworth.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:43:43)Sean Smith is the 2nd corner taken by the Dolphins and don't be surprised if the Dolphins play a more physical style on the outside next year as both players have good size and physicality.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:41:02)Top Picks Available CB Sean Smith TE Shawn Nelson CB DJ Moore DT/DE Jarron Gilbert G Duke Robinson ILB Darry Beckwith DE/34LB Michael Johnson DE Lawrence Sidbury TE Cornelius Ingram OT Fenuki Tupou

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:39:16)I agree and while I think he is a great value and well worth the risk at this point, it just goes to show how concerned team's are about his ability to translate his tremendous physical skills into production in the NFL.

Jay     (04-25-2009 18:37:59)I just realized how far Micheal Johnson has slipped!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:37:20)William Beatty is a nice value here for a Giants team looking for a left tackle to develop behind David Diehl. Needs to refine his technique but lands in a situation where he can develop for a year.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:34:51)Sherrod Martin is a slight reach for Carolina. He has excellent size and is good in man coverage. Look for him to fill a nickel role in 2009.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:31:56)I really like Paul Kruger the DE Baltimore selected in round 2. He is a versatile player with a tremendous motor and a bit of a mean streak.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:30:24)Jay, I think a 3rd and a 4th sounds about right to move up to the 2nd round at this point. It is just a matter of Seattle having better picks in both rounds than Buffalo did.

Jay     (04-25-2009 18:28:25)Shouldn't the Boys have gotten more for #51? The Bears got #68 and #105 for their #49.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:27:28)Miami traded pick 56 to the Colts for picks 61 and 165.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:26:33)The Patriots select Sebastian Vollmer out of Houston. He has been one of my top sleepers in this year's draft. He had an excellent week at the East-West Shrine game and while he is still learning the game he has tremendous upside possibly as a left tackle. I expected him to go in the 3rd or 4th round but still not a bad pick.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:25:04)The Cowboys received picks 75 and 110 from the Bills for pick 51.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:23:38)I think the Cowboys will be looking at Pegues or Rashad Johnson in round 3.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:21:50)Duke Robinson should be on the board. this is about the right spot for someone to take Johnson

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:21:02)Yes, Moala provides a solid defensive tackle that can shore up the run defense.

Bailey     (04-25-2009 18:19:37)Does the Moala pick shore up a weak front line of the Indy defense?

Jay     (04-25-2009 18:19:32)Since the Cowboys dropped into the 3rd round with the trade, I think they like their chances of Rashad Johnson or Duke Robinson falling that far.

Bailey     (04-25-2009 18:19:15)Does the Moala pick shore up a weak front line of the Indy defense?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:15:38)Jarron Gilbert makes sense for Indy here

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:14:00)William Moore is a great in the box defender but will need improve skills defending the deep ball

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 18:12:47)Trade update: the Carolina Panthers traded their 2010 1st round pick in exchange for the 49ers 2nd (43) and 4th (111) round picks. No update is available yet on the Dal-Buf trade.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:10:03)The Vikings had a major hole at right tackle and Loadholt is a good fit for the Vikings

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:08:41)The Eagles have added two guys with first round grades in Maclin and McCoy in addition to Jason Peters in a trade. There is a reason this team wins every year

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 18:07:17)LeSean McCoy is a great fit for Philadelphia. He's like a Westbrook clone and will be great depth and give them the back for the future.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:04:08)we are still researching the Dallas-Buffalo trade

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:03:41)Veikune is a tremendous pass rusher and was dominant at the senior bowl. He could end being the best pick for Cleveland

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 18:02:33)Andy Levitre is the type of player who should start right away at guard, but waith William Beatty on the board I am surprised they traded up for a guard

Jay     (04-25-2009 18:01:30)Could somebody fill me in on that trade?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:54:21)The Massaquoi pick is a head scratcher. This team has major needs at RB, OLB and CB.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:52:10)Duke Robinson or Phi Loadholt are both ideal fits for the Cowboys considering size and run blocking skills

Josh     (04-25-2009 17:51:32)I think Dallas has to to on the O-line. There secondary is aweful, that might be a possibility.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:50:53)A couple other guys to consider are DJ Moore, Rashad Johnson and Jarron Gilbert.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 17:50:41)The Bears trade out of first day. Of course getting Cutler was worth it. Seattle gives the Bears a pick in the third and fourth, places they always feel they can find value.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:50:23)Sean Smith would be a great pick for the Cowboys. He is versatile enough to play both corner and safety

Jay     (04-25-2009 17:49:05)I think the Cowboys go with Sean Smith out of Utah, Duke Robinson, or Fili Moala with #51.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:48:28)Max Unger will help Seattle's poor run blocking offensive line

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:47:21)On the positive side, McBath is one of the best centerfielder type safeties in this year's draft.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:45:02)McBath is a bit of reach here for Denver. This team has made a number of questionable decisions on draft day

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:42:58)Why do the Virginia 3-4 OLBs keep getting picked by 4-3 team's? Sintim is a tremendous 3-4 OLB prospect but a wasted pick in the 4-3.

Josh     (04-25-2009 17:41:31)Leave it to Oakland with another dumb pick!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:41:27)The Raiders have done it again. This is an all time new low for Al Davis. Michael Mitchell is no better than sixth round pick

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:37:05)I disagree, I think Barwin has the body to put on some weight and can come in and play as a situational pass rusher right away.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 17:36:50)I doubt Sintim will be effective in the 4-3. He'll come across as another Virginia linebacker bust.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:35:50)Connor Barwin is not a good scheme fit for the Texans. He will have to bulk up to play every down as a 4-3 defensive end

Josh     (04-25-2009 17:33:28)Isn't Sintom a 3-4 would be playing in a 4-3?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:33:24)Clint Sintim could be yet another big time front seven pass rusher. The key is can Sintim adjust to a 4-3. Ahmed Brooks and Darryl Blackstock were unable to make the adjustment

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 17:31:45)The Wildcat continues at Miami. The question is have defenses found ways to shut it down this year... very likely.

josh     (04-25-2009 17:30:14)Pat white to Miami. Nice and intresting pick! Wildcat formation personal. Nice.

Jay     (04-25-2009 17:29:32)Well, the addition of Pat White certainly makes the Dolphins the most dangerous Wildcat team in the league.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:29:18)While i don't like the trade. Carolina needed to add a pass rusher and Everette Brown was a good value.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:28:43)I talked about this several months ago with Pat White going to Miami to add a new element to the Wildcat. This will be an exciting offense to watch

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:26:04)Terrible trade for Carolina considering they gave up a number 1 in 2010

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:23:26)Brown is not an ideal 4-3 DE because of his size but he is a good value here and provides insurance/running mate for Julius Peppers.

josh     (04-25-2009 17:22:36)Brown the possiblity going to carolina is a good pick! Great value.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:22:08)Jairus Byrd is a good cover 2 tyope corner with playmaking instincts but i don't see how he is a good fit for Buffalo at this point.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:22:01)Everette Brown is a much better fit in a 3-4 in my opinion, but should be a solid 3rd down pass rusher

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 17:19:57)Draft101 Best Available: DE Everette Brown RB Lesean McCoy DE/34LB Connor Barwin CB Sean Smith C Max Unger DE Paul Kruger TE Shawn Nelson CB DJ Moore OT Phil Loadholdt DT/DE Jarron Gilbert

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:18:09)Major reach for Buffalo here considering Sean Smith and DJ Moore are still on the board

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:14:52)Butler is one of those rare Patriots picks where everyone knows its going to happen. Even harder to see that happen in round 2.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:14:50)Darrius Butler has been rummored to be a New England pick for several weeks now. Butler has the physical skills and will be coached up in New England

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:12:41)I like New England's Ron Brace selection. Vince Wilfork is going to be a free agent in 2010 and the Patriots have made little progress in getting an extension done.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:12:25)By picking Ron Brace, the Patriots have decided they don't want to pay Vince Wilfolk beyond this year

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 17:10:30)Oakland needs the picks acquired in the New England trade

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:07:31)I still can't get over Denver giving up a 2010 1st round pick to move up to get Alphonso Smith. With the number of other picks they have including 2 3rd rounds, they should have been able to come up with a better package.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:04:07)Jacksonville takes another tackle and i can't argue with that considering how bad their offensive line needs are. Britton is an underrated tackle who is an excellent fit on the right side.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 17:00:29)A great pick and tremendous value for Cincinnati. Maualuga is reunited with Keith Rivers and Marvin Lewis may finally have the middle linebacker he has always wanted. Passing on a center was tough but Maualuga was too good to pass up.

Josh     (04-25-2009 16:59:17)Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Malialluge! Great value!

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:57:39)Right now the Bengals are arguing Unger vs Maualuga.

josh     (04-25-2009 16:54:34)That is awesome! Wayne you just said everything there!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:53:39)That is the best comment in the two year history of this blog!

Wayne     (04-25-2009 16:52:46)Was Maualuga arrested for dog-fighting last night? This is getting ridiculous.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:52:27)I can't believe the Broncos are giving up a #1 pick in next years draft to get Alphonso Smith in next year's draft. This might be the worst trade in NFL history

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:49:23)I agree Maualuga would appear to be the pick for Denver.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:48:35)Biggest non-story of the day is the trading of Braylon Edwards and Anquan Boldin. With the teams who needed wide receivers most taking wideouts in round 1 means no trades are likely at this point.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:47:35)Denver just leap frogged Cincinnati likely to take Rey Mauluaga

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:46:17)Brian Robiske is a local guy who has football smarts.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:45:18)I agree Chris, this Everette Brown was listed as high as #9 to Green Bay is several mocks. He is too small to play in 4-3 which hurts his stock

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:45:11)Going back to the Ziggy Hood pick by Pittsburgh, I like Hood's talent but do not know how good of a fit he will be for the 3-4. They need to reload their D-line but i think their are better options than Hood.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:42:27)For me it was Offensive Tackle Eben Britton. With so many teams with line questions, thought he would be gone by now.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:40:43)My biggest surprise of a guy falling out of the first round is Everette Brown. What do you think Doug and Dan?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:40:29)Mauluaga would be an ideal pick for the Rams here

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:39:57)I agree Dan, but middle linebackers rarely go first round, usually allowing for value at the beginning of the second round. And this year has lots of talent at 3-4 OLB.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:39:04)There is also lots of value at 3-4 OLB

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:38:44)The value at middle linebacker is tremendous

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:38:05)Delmas is not a sexy pick but he is the best safety in the draft and the Lions secondary is a mess.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:37:48)Chung was the second best safety and a good pick.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:36:35)Wow! A big shock by the Lions. Delmas is a big hitter but there were linebackers available who could make more impact in my opinion.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:32:54)Ziggy Hood is a good pick and will play DE in the 3-4.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:28:24)I disagree, I think Wells is fall was due to injury and toughness concerns. I do think the only reason Donald Brown went ahead of him was scheme fit more so than talent.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:28:23)With Pittsburgh on the clock, we could have three centers going in round 1

Josh     (04-25-2009 16:27:44)Great pick for Arizona. Great value here! To get really two good backs!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:26:56)Beanie Wells inability to catch balls out of the backfield is the biggest reason he fell this far

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:24:36)A Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower backfield gives Arizona some offensive versatility

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:23:24)The Titans finally take a wide receiver with Kenny Britt and he should be an excellent fit with his size and physical style. I personally had him as my 3rd rated receiver in the draft.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 16:22:54)Finally the Titans addressed their wide receiver need in round 1

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:22:51)Tennessee finally take a WR in the first round and get a great talent in Kenny Britt.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:21:42)The pace of this year's draft is fantastic. Changing to 10 minutes between picks in round 1 has gotten rid of all the haggling and stalling. Teams that want to trade have to bring their best offer now.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:14:51)Trade update: In the Patriots trade down with the Packers the Patriots receive a 2nd (41) and two 3rds (73 and 83). The Packers received #26 plus a 5th rounder (162)

Josh     (04-25-2009 16:12:54)Great pick for the Giants. Nicks is going to be a stud!

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:12:50)Tennessee could looks WR but history says they won't. A DT like Ron Brace or LB Rey Maualuga wouldn't be a shock.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:10:41)Nicks is a big strong receiver like Anquan Boldin and has a chance to play and impact immediately.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:09:16)I think at this point is very likely. Unger will likely go to the Steelers at 32 if not Cardinals at 31.

Josh     (04-25-2009 16:08:34)Are we going to see three centers taken in the first round?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:05:28)Jay, I think the draft is falling very well for the Cowboys thus far. I think they are looking at a WR, S or O-lineman and there is still good value at those 3 spots esp. WR and S.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 16:03:46)I'd disagree, Clay Matthews run a 4.5 40 and I believe is a good fit for the Packers as the continue making picks to transition to the 3-4.

Jay     (04-25-2009 16:02:55)I'm a Cowboys fan, with what has happened thus far in the draft, who do you think they are targeting for pick #51?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:02:47)Beannie Wells durability and toughness issues may be contributing to his fall, not to mention concerns about his foot injury. I think the reason Indy passed though is more about scheme fit than overall talent.

JOsh     (04-25-2009 16:01:20)Clay Mathews? I doesn't fit and he is slow!

Josh     (04-25-2009 16:00:43)Why has Beanie Wells fallen?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 16:00:38)Donald Brown appears to be heading to Indy. While Wells may be the better talent, Donald Brown is the better fit for the Indianapolis offense.

Josh     (04-25-2009 15:55:02)Why are the Patriots trading there picks? Don't they need talent!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:53:38)This is an important draft for the Patriots. They need to focus on adding value to their roster rather than accumulating picks. They have a lot of free agents after the 2009 season and need to do better in the draft than they have the past 2 years (Jerod Mayo excluded)

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 15:47:41)Vontae Davis is an excellent pick, a top cornerback who is strong and has solid coverage skills.

josh     (04-25-2009 15:46:32)What direction does Miami go?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:43:06)Jerry is a great fit for Atlanta. He fills a major need and is a nice combination of a penetrator and a run stuffer. It took a year but Mike Smith finally gets his defensive tackle.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:42:27)The cornerbacks are really dropping thus far. Not a surprise considering the lack of size and/or speed of most of the prospects.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:41:37)Peria Jerry would seem to be the guy the Falcons would take. A corner is also a possibility.

josh     (04-25-2009 15:38:13)Nice pick for baltimore, with Anderson getting old. Very solid!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:38:01)Michael Oher is an excellent pick for the Ravens. He provides the versatility to play the right or left side and improves the protection of their young quarterback. The Ravens were concerned about having Willie Anderson starting at right tackle again next year.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:36:07)A trade update: Cleveland acquire a 6th round pick (191) from TB and a 6th round pick from Phil (195) in their two trade downs.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 15:33:05)Patriots board shows Beanie Wells and Michael Oher at the top.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 15:32:20)Initially Harvin will be used as a slot receiver initially and for some wildcat looks.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:31:15)While I am surprised the Vikings took the character risk, Harvin's versatility will help keep defenses from keying on Peterson too much. Harvin also will allow them to run some wildcat. He will also be a playmaker in the return game.

Josh     (04-25-2009 15:30:35)How will Harvin be used in Minnesota?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:29:41)Harvin playing indoors on turf could be scary. He will be used more on gadget plays and punt returns more than wide receiver

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 15:29:16)So is Wells going to get past the patriots or do they go another direction?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:27:50)Mack is a surprise but a solid pick. Don't forget Eric Mangini drafted Nick Mangold when he was with the Jets.

josh     (04-25-2009 15:26:42)Alex Mack to Clevland. Great pick!

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 15:26:38)What a surprise. This is a reach. What do you think?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:26:25)I like the pick, but with all of the running backs in round 2 Cleveland should still get a quality back

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:24:56)They've made a number of picks over the years so nothing would surprise me

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:24:34)Anything is possible but the way they are trading down little by little makes you think he is the target.

Chris     (04-25-2009 15:23:47)is there any way cleveland does not draft wells?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:22:28)Pettigrew is a bit of a surprise but his blocking skills will help the ground game and he will also provide a nice underneath target for their young quarterback.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:22:12)Cleveland has done a nice job in reading the draft so far

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:20:52)Bettigrew is a solid blocker and should help in the running game. Michael Oher is a right tackle prospect and not a great left tackle prospect

Chris     (04-25-2009 15:18:53)It looks like Cleveland is going to get the player they wanted, three players and a ton of picks.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:18:48)Very similar player, but with a west coast offense you can have several undersized and speedy receivers. Maclin can also change field position as a punt returner

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 15:16:07)Isn't maclin the same player as desean jackson?

Josh     (04-25-2009 15:16:04)Philly with a great pick. The thing is Maklin and Jackson are the same player! Great value with the pick!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:15:37)Will Detroit make the smart move and add Michael Oher to protect their $41 million man. Rey Maualuga is also a possibility.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:14:01)I would laugh really hard if Detroit took Beanie Wells considering how many time Cleveland has traded back

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:13:58)Donovan McNabb has to be happy with the addition of another target. Maclin is a great value here and provides a nice size/speed combination. Eagles fans will need to be patient though because Maclin does not run a full route tree and will need time to develop.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:12:26)The Eagles could go for Chris Wells also

Jay     (04-25-2009 15:12:01)I guess they don't have to hope... traded up.

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 15:11:58)I think the eagles would be happy if maclin but are going to be even happier if wells is there. What do you think?

Josh     (04-25-2009 15:11:04)Will cleveland trade there pick again? They still need more picks?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:10:46)The Eagles would be ecstatic if this happened. Maclin and Desean Jackson would be a great 1-2 punch

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:09:48)I actually like the Ayers pick. With the transition to the 3-4 I think he is a good fit for the system. As the Chiefs and Packers showed earlier the key to the 3-4 is having some talent in the trenches. Ayers skills fit the system as well.

Jay     (04-25-2009 15:08:48)How happy would the Eagles be if Maclin fell to them?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:07:38)Ayers has a limited upside and with such a bad linebacking corps, this team should not have passed on Mauluaga

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:07:30)You bring a good point. I also think Raheem Morris' connections to the Kansas State program can't be underestimated. He is very familiar with Freeman which only adds to the confidence of the selection.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:07:01)The key for Josh Freeman is Tampa letting Josh Freeman sit and watch most of year next year. Freeman should be the full time starter until 2010

Anonymous     (04-25-2009 15:05:54)I think Tampa is a perfect fit for Freeman. They have a good team, one that went 8-3 in the first part of the season last year. He can be similar to a certain Steelers QB as well as Dante.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:04:22)Freeman is very similar to Culpepper and his ceiling is about the same. Unfortunately, Freeman will not have Randy Moss to throw to.

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 15:03:06)Is Freemn the next Dante or is he better?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:02:58)The Bucs will need to be patient with Freeman. He has a lot of upside but should not be thrown to the Wolves to quickly.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:02:19)Maulaga would be the smart pick for Denver here. This team needs a leader on defense

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 15:01:43)As much as i don't think Tampa needed to trade up, giving up a 6th round pick was worth it to get the guy they wanted.

josh     (04-25-2009 15:01:27)Well Tampay needs a QB. Is Freeman ready ready to be a starter next season?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 15:01:23)Tampa didn't want to take any chances on Josh Freeman. They only have to give up a sixth rounder. The Browns should be able to get either Maclin or Wells with their pick at 19

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:58:16)Cleveland is stockpiling picks

Chri Wilson     (04-25-2009 14:57:13)why not Macklin?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:56:14)I think the biggest surprise in the top 15 is KC taking Tyson Jackson. He fills a need but will never be able to play up to the contract he will get. I thought if anyone could have pulled off the trade down it would have been Pioli.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:55:34)If its not Chris Wells, Rey Mauluga is the pick

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 14:55:04)So does the Browns pick well's or ?

josh     (04-25-2009 14:54:21)English? Great passrusher, maybe Merriman might be done?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:53:51)Larry English is the biggest surprise of the draft thus far. That said, I like the pick. English is arguably the best 3-4 OLB in the draft. The selection also makes you wonder how serious Shawne Merriman's knee injury is.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:51:37)I was surprised Cincinnati passed on Eugene Monroe and Buffalo passed Orakpo. Two teams that couldn't afford to take a risk did. I am never shocked by Al Davis

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:49:21)I think the Chargers take Maualuga. He will be able to contribute right away but i don't think Wells would be a surprise.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:48:17)Dan, what is your biggest surprise in the first 15 picks?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:47:37)San Diego should take Beannie Wells here. Here's a bold prediction, LT will be out of the league next year at this time

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:47:24)Cushing fills a need up front for the Texans and toughens up the front 7. He also could help the pass rush a little too.

Josh     (04-25-2009 14:45:54)Great pick for Houston! There are loading on up on that defense!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:45:46)I agree with Dan, St. Louis or Seattle could be intriquing possibilities. Going to the Jets would not have been a good fit for Freeman because he needs a year to develop and the Jets needed someone who could play right away.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:45:45)The Texans needed to add a physical linebacker with size to complement their smaller, quicker linebackers. Cushing could provide a pass rush as a blitzer

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:45:45)The Texans needed to add a physical linebacker with size to complement their smaller, quicker linebackers. Cushing could provide a pass rush as a blitzer

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:43:50)If Freeman slides past Tampa he goes to round 2. Someone could trade up into the lower part of round 2 if that scenario takes place

Jay     (04-25-2009 14:42:38)Who is gonna take a chance on Josh Freeman now that the Jets have acquired Mark Sanchez? The Bucs perhaps?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:41:44)I think we are over analyzing Malcolm Jenkins. This guy is a shut down corner

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:40:49)The Saints improve the secondary. Likely that Jenkins will be a safety for them instead of cornerback.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:40:09)Orakpo immediately improves the Redskins defense.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:38:15)I think New Orleans goes with Cushing or Malcolm Jenkins. While i don't like the idea don't be surprised if they take Beanie Wells.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:36:57)The Saints should consider Brian Cushing with this pick. The front seven needs help

Josh     (04-25-2009 14:36:00)Great pick by Washington. They have to be going crazy with this pick!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:35:56)Could the Saints go Beanie Wells?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:35:51)The Broncos will focus on the defense with the many other picks they have in rounds 1,2 and 3. Personally i like the Moreno pick.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:35:06)Josh, with the Broncos numerous picks, they can still address the defense. Moreno was obviously number one on their board and definitely fits them better than the other backs.

josh     (04-25-2009 14:33:48)Morano? They need Defense! Who exactly are they going to stop!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:33:43)The Redskins have an aging defensive line and this pick makes a lot of sense

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:33:30)Moreno could be the best back of the draft, even with his slow speed. His ability to catch out of the backfield will be a big boon to this offense.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:32:49)I am not surprised the Broncos took Moreno. By trading Cutler they needed to get a runner who could take the pressure off of Kyle Orton. Moreno is the top running back in the draft and a nice fit for McDaniels offense.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:32:44)Denver needed a running back since they don't have a passing game now. I actually like this pick due to his pass rushing catching ability

josh     (04-25-2009 14:30:11)I love the Crabtree pick with SF. The top reciever on the board at ten!

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:28:51)I agree. Maybin may be the best pure pass rusher in the draft but will take a year or two to develop. Don't expect him to be anything more than a situational pass rusher in 2009.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:26:30)Buffalo's questionable offseason move continue. Maybin is undersized and Buffalo could have waited to get the same caliber DE at the end of round 1

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:24:42)I also like that Crabtree will get to play alongside Issac Bruce. They are similar in style and Bruce could be a good mentor.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:23:49)Singletary gets a playmaker and difference maker in Crabtree. Crabtree will make any quarterback throwing to him look better.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:23:39)Buffalo is usually a wild card, but Brian Orakpo makes a lot of sense with this pick

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:21:18)Teams should only make the switch if they can address NT and OLB in free agency or the draft. Without those elements it may make sense for teams to stick with a 4-3. Keep in mind less than 1% of college teams play a 3-4

Bailey     (04-25-2009 14:19:15)Is switching to the 3-4 a good financial move in today's NFL?

JoshM     (04-25-2009 14:16:52)I love the BJ Raji pick. Great runstuffer for a running division,

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:14:02)If Crabtree falls past San Francisco he could fall to Houston

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 14:13:22)Raji is a great pick and a gift to the Packers. He will make their transistion to the 3-4 much easier and will help stuff the run in the run-heavy NFC North.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:09:49)Green Bay and Jacksonville are the biggest winners this far considering they got the number 1 players on their board without trading up.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:08:19)Raji should be the Packers pick. Michael Oher is a possibility as well.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:07:21)Monroe is a great pick for Jacksonville. They need to rebuild their offensive line and playing with Tra Thomas for a year provides an excellent mentor as well.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:04:59)If Monroe falls much further the knee concerns may be the reason.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 14:03:01)Jacksonville has a tough choice between Raji, Monroe and Crabtree. I'd take Raji but Monroe might fill a bigger need.

JoshM     (04-25-2009 14:01:35)Oakand being Oakland. There are always a wildcard! Jacksonville is lovin this!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 14:00:23)The Jags have three players in Raji, Crabtree and Monroe who all fit their needs. The pick should be Monroe

Chris     (04-25-2009 13:59:01)Go Al on doing what you do. Heywood-bey is good but the number 7 pick. what about you Chris?

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 13:58:52)Not a terrible shock. Al Davis loves speed and Darrius Heyward-Bey was the fastest at the combine.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:58:06)Oakland goes with the speed and take Darrius Heyward-Bey. He has a lot of talent and gives JaMarcus Russell a deep threat. That said, he has boom or bust written all over him. He is a huge risk at #7.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:55:26)Andre Smith is not as big of a surprise as it appears on the surface. On tape Andre Smith was the best tackle in the draft. His work ethic is a concern playing in Cincinnati but he should be able to come in and play a solid right tackle at a minimum.

Chris     (04-25-2009 13:55:12)Good call Chris on the pick.

Chris     (04-25-2009 13:49:28)Remember the lst time the bengals drafted a tackle with knee problems.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:49:03)Here is a run down on the trade: 17th pick, a 2nd round pick plus Abram Elam, Kenyon Coleman and Bret Ratliff. Elam fills a safety need and Ratliff will compete for the starting job. Some Jets fans wanted him to be the starter.

Chris     (04-25-2009 13:46:58)Good deal for the browns.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:46:36)Don't rule out BJ Raji. The Bengals are the only team in the division without an elite NT type.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:45:22)I actually think Cincinnati will take Andre Smith over Monroe. The tape of Andre is better and there are some concerns about a Monroe knee injury.

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 13:43:50)Now which tackle??

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:41:25)Great move by the Jets. Sanchez is a perfect fit for New York. Not only is he a talented quarterback but he has the charisma to handle the media spotlight.

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:40:56)The jets are on the clock. Great move by cleveland to trade out!

Chris Wilson     (04-25-2009 13:40:17)here goes sanchez

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:39:43)The Jets have made a trade with Cleveland. Sanchez will be the pick. Details to follow.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:37:40)This could be the trade spot but if the Browns stay and are planning on trading Edwards they will take Crabtree. Taking Raji could mean the Browns decided to keep Edwards. A front of Raji and Shaun Rogers would be tough.

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:36:42)No shock with Curry going to seattle, this an interesting pick. Will Cleveland Go Raji, Crabtree, or a tackle?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:35:34)Seattle takes Aaron Curry. No surprise here after with LeRoy Hill playing on a franchise tag and Julian Peterson getting traded. Curry will instantly upgrade the Seahawks run and pass defense. Passing on a future left tackle was tough but Curry will pay quicker dividends. Taking Sanchez would have been like waving a rebuilding flag.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:30:45)I think Jackson was a solid pick, he will never play up to his contract but the Chiefs defense will be much tougher up front as a result. Aaron Curry is a great player but i do not see him as a great fit in the 3-4. Curry should not worry he will be taken by Seattle at 4 or Cleveland at 5.

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:29:23)Jackson is a workout machine. I think he will be a good player, be he isn't Curry! Dumb pick!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:27:02)Tyson Jackson will start and is a safe pick, but without a NT the defense doesn't work

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:25:58)Without Holmgren running the draft, I feel the Seahawks go for Sanchez. Holmgren would not draft a rookie QB without a proven left tackle

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:23:36)If K.C goes curry, what happens with Seattle? Do they go Monroe?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:22:11)Anyone who believes Mark Sanchez should have been the pick for St Louis doesn't understand the importance of the offensive line

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:21:28)I agree Raji would be my choice too but Eugene Monroe would not be a bad choice either (and an ironic one considering teammate Branden Albert last year) Tyson Jackson remains a possibility but i agree it is like taking a guard or center.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 13:20:01)This is the pick where the draft begins to get interesting!!

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:18:49)KC should take Raji. taking a 3-4 DE is like taking a center or guard this high

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:17:26)Mel Kiper has lost it. His analyis is slipping

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:17:18)K.C is a real wildcard. They can go in a number of directions. Which way do they go. Raji, Curry, or Monroe?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:16:53)Any chance KC takes Raji? or will it be Tyson Jackson?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:15:57)Detroit and St. Louis follow the conventional route with Stafford and Jason Smith but now the draft will get interesting with KC on the clock.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:13:25)I agree the problem is Campbell is an ok quarterback but he has no marquee value in a division with Romo, McNabb and Eli Manning.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:12:20)Campbell has a strong arm but refuses to take chances down the field. The Redskins still must improve the right side of their offensive line

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:11:44)Why has washington soured on Campbell?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:11:04)After looking at the Stafford contract, the Rams have no chance of trading down

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 13:10:57)No one will trade into the second spot. Too expensive, both in salary cap, and draft picks to make the move.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:10:34)No chance for St. Louis to trade down after the signing bonus Stafford got.

Doug Lancy     (04-25-2009 13:09:58)Predictions: Jets move up to 8 to take Sanchez. Crabtree slides out of the top 10.

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:09:49)Bold predition: Crabtree falls out of the top ten!

JoshM     (04-25-2009 13:09:19)Is there a shot of St. Louis getting out of the 2nd spot?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:09:14)Buffalo will have the first shocker of round 1

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:08:45)Why are the Giant,Jet and Eagle fans booing Stafford? Booing for the sake of booing is idiotic

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:05:30)As usual the NY and Philly fans are ignorant

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:04:52)Any bold predictions Doug or Dan?

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 13:03:45)Right now that prediction looks solid. The Chiefs biggest needs are up front on both sides of the ball

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 13:02:02)Dan how is my prediction of the on our podcast last week of Chiefs not taking Aaron Curry looking about now.

Dan Wernery     (04-25-2009 12:57:28)The Jets have a second round pick which gives them a slight advantage, but the Redskins are willing to mortgage the future with draft picks in 2010 and 2011.

Josh     (04-25-2009 12:55:26)Which team is has the fire power to trade up to get mark sanchez. Washington or the Jets?

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 12:45:30)Another Chiefs rumor to watch is the possibility of trading 2008 1st round pick Glenn Dorsey in exchange for Jamaal Anderson and the #24 pick.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 12:44:12)The key pick in round 1 will be the Chiefs at #3 overall. Scott Pioli desperately wants to move down but is finding no takers. The Kansas City Star reported a rumor that the Chiefs offered the #2 overall pick to Detroit in exchange for #20 and #33 and were turned down.

Chris Maier     (04-25-2009 12:42:32)Rumors are flying including mixed views on Mark Sanchez.
